For those of us in the industry, this isn't too surprising - GM lays off 1k employees every year just to get their stock price up and rehires them. However, GM doesn't even come close to being the largest layoff in 2024: Dell laid off 20% of their workforce back in March, Tesla and Cisco both laid off 10(ish)%, and the list goes on.
